If you’ve been following my blog you may have noticed that I really look forward to my weekends. I am especially looking forward to this weekend. I’m going away with 14 friends to a hockey tournament in Brockville. We played in this tourney last year and had such a good time that we are going back this year! We’ve got 3 games guaranteed and depending on how we do in our pool, we may play in the finals Sunday afternoon.
The hockey is almost secondary to us. Getting away for a weekend with no real responsibilities (to be read no household chores, no husbands, no kids) is what we are all looking forward to. We’ve got great game times, which will allow us to enjoy a few “beverages” in the evenings! We are big fans of Corona…you may be able to tell by our team jerseys and socks:
Pretty sweet, eh? The numbers on the jerseys are actually designed with limes. We are the BEST looking team on the ice for sure! Let’s hope our play is half as good as we look!
Before I get to head out for my fun-filled weekend, I’ve got a few things to do. At the top of that list is run 8 miles. Normally tomorrow (Friday) is a rest day for me, but since I will be away and playing hockey this weekend, I don’t really think I will be able to do my long run on Sunday, so I took today as my rest day and will be running my long run tomorrow. I was hoping my sister would be able to run with me, but that didn’t work out, so I will be heading out with my iPod for company, thinking positive thoughts, and smiling my way through 8 miles.
I will be getting up bright and early to get my run done. Then I’ve got some work to do, a conference call at 10:30, and at some point I’ve got to pack. Which reminds me, I need to wash my dri-fit stuff…I am so not going to be ready in time!
While the weekend will be full of laughs and a few beer, it will probably also be filled with less than ideal food. I was hoping to pack a cooler with some Clean snacks, but I’m not sure I will have time to pull anything together. If my call tomorrow ends early, I will try to run to the grocery store and grab some fruit and veggies. Hopefully playing 3 games of hockey will burn off some of the beer and bad food. I’m going to try not to worry about it too much and just have fun. I can get back on the healthy train on Monday.
Okay, I’ve got to go throw my gear in the wash so I don’t have the worst smelling hockey bag on the team.
I will try to post over the weekend, but can’t promise anything.
Have a good weekend everyone!
